| Workshop: Folk Business for Performers Saturday 26th July at the Cooper Art Gallery, Barnsley. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Whether professional or semi-professional, most folk performers take to
the stage because they make good music, but to succeed, you also need to
know about the business. This workshop day is for performers needing
more of an insight into how the business works.
Jacey Bedford, Development Worker for Yorkshire Folk Arts and also survivor of 19 years (and counting) on the road with Artisan, takes you through the basics of folk business from agents (do you need one?) to marketing. All you ever needed to know about sourcing and clinching gigs, contracts, promo materials, making your own CD, MCPS, PRS, being your own record company, keeping the tax man happy, and much more. This workshop day is presented by the Barnsley Folk Arts Development Group in partnership with Yorkshire Folk Arts.
