| Development Worker: Yorkshire Folk Arts strides forward with Jacey | |||||
|
Yorkshire Folk Arts, fast approaching its second year, has taken a big step forward with the appointment of Jacey Bedford as its development worker. Jacey, already well-known nationally and internationally through her tour management work and as a member of Artisan, is being funded for a year through Yorkshire Arts, courtesy of a Community Fund (RALP) grant, and will now apply her energy and enthusiasm to promoting folk arts throughout the region. She will be contacting local authorities to discuss how Yorkshire Folk Arts can contribute to their cultural strategies, and how folk arts can help to promote tourism and regeneration. She will build a database of performers, clubs, teams, promoters, venues and events throughout the region for publication on YFA's website as a first point of contact for all matters relating to folk arts in Yorkshire. Above all, Jacey needs to hear from anyone interested in folk arts in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire (the Yorkshire Arts area), to listen to their ideas about how YFA could help with marketing, training or support, and how we might best promote folk arts. Partnership is the central theme of our activities. We hope to work with anyone, any group, or any organisation to promote and further our common interests. YFA offers a great opportunity for all those involved or interested in folk arts throughout the region to carry our traditions in to the 21st century. You can contact Jacey on 01484 606230 or email jacey@yorkshire-folk-arts.com Please get in touch - have your say and be part of our success.
