York: medieval pilgrimage 6-9 July 2006

Barley Hall logo Dancers and entertainers wanted

Tony Lacey writes:

In connection with the York mystery plays and to raise funds both for Barley Hall and a charity of your choice, the Barley Hall Trust are organising a medieval pilgrimage from Nostell Priory to York, July 6 to 9 2006. There are specific needs for entertainers as listed below, the costume requirements will be a problem for some groups as tail coats and top hats would be too anachronistic but some Morris sides might pass, re-enactors, storytellers, jugglers etc. will all be welcome. Much more information than you may want is attached.

Thursday 6 July — 11 am to 1 pm at Nostell Priory.
Anything with a medieval flavour, (Near Wakefield)

Thursday 6 July — 3 pm to 5 pm at Pontefract Castle.
Anything really, but school groups may be along, so something approachable for children.

Friday 7 July — 4 pm-ish at Crooked Billet Inn near Towton.
Time and details to be confirmed for this one

Saturday 8 July — evening at Barley Hall.
This will be a celebration event for participants and for press to come along — everything welcome!

Sunday 9 July — walk from Goddards to Minster.
Need to be in medieval costume — opportunity for stops en route as we go through the city.
