Our vision
Every one of the 5 million people in Yorkshire and the Humber should be aware of folk arts and have a chance to take part; and every child in every school in the region should have the chance to learn traditional music, song and dance.

Directory Update

Over the coming weeks we shall be updating the Regional Folk Arts Directory. It would help considerably if those people, organisations performers etc. who are listed in the directory could check their entries and drop an email to jim@yorkshire-folk-arts.com to confirm that they are up to date or to make any changes.

Event planning/conflict calendar

This feature is designed to help folk arts event organisers in Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire with forward planning. Details of events can be posted to the searchable online database and, we hope, unnecessary clashes avoided. The more organisers who use it, the more useful it will be: so over to you. Although intended as a planning tool, if it becomes widely enough used it will also be helpful for potential audiences.

Information resources

Beside information about YFA, our information pages include short introductions to sources of sponsorship and funding for folk arts organisations and to various regional traditions.

Regional Directory

The online directory of folk arts organisations and activities which we are compiling continues to grow. We don't pretend to know everything, though, and there will inevitably be a good number of clubs, sessions, dance groups and teams, performers, teachers and so on in Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire of whom we are as yet unaware. In order to make submitting information for inclusion here easier, we have now provided a form which you can complete online and send to us automatically via our web server.
